Legend Of The Name
"Manitous"

Manitous means the "Mystic Lodge." It is Ojibway in origin. The Manitous are mysteries and spirits - the essence that infuses and safeguards plants and animals, including humans, in all aspects of life. Spiritual tales, tribal teachings, and native legends are interwoven through the time-honored oral tradition of the Ojibway. The following are a few Ojibway Legends that were researched to share with you the meaning of the name behind Manitous Lodge #88.
