Allohak 88

Allohak Lodge #88 was the first lodge in our council to be created from a merger of councils.  This happened in 1973, when the Portage Trails Council and Wolverine Council merged to form the "new" Wolverine Council.  Their respective OA lodges, Munhacke Lodge #88 and Tecumseh Lodge #332, also merged to form the Allohak Lodge.   Following tradition, the new Allohak Lodge kept 88, the lower of the two lodge numbers, for its designation.  The word Allohak comes to us from the Lenape and means "powerful one."

The first Allohak Lodge flap was designed by Robert Bradshaw.  He incorporated parts of both previous lodge flaps to create the new lodge flap.  The two small pine trees represented the two former lodges and the large pine tree represented the new lodge.  Allohak had a membership of about 450 in 1993.  Mr. Bradshaw later became East Central Region OA Advisor and a member of the OA National Committee.

"From the beginning it has been our hope that the Order would serve a useful
purpose in causing the Scout Promise and Law to spring into action, especially in the Scout camps in all parts of our nation.  We are still dedicated to this high purpose."

E. Urner Goodman, Founder of the Order of the Arrow
